About Us

The Colombian Association of Clinical Research Centers or ACIC

It is an association incorporated as a private non-profit legal entity, of private utility and Colombian nationality, governed by Colombian laws and by the provisions of the articles of which the bylaws are composed.

We are an association that groups together Colombian research centers duly certified by the INVIMA. Each one of them accepts and embraces the principles of ethics and quality required by international regulations and the standards of the Association

One of its objectives is to consolidate its affiliates as world-class Centers of Excellence.

In addition, ACIC is the legal entity that represents all the centers in Colombia before the regulatory entity.

We are an organization that strengthens Colombia’s competitiveness in clinical research, promoting high quality standards in our associates and working in coordination with the sector’s entities.

Our Vision

By 2023, ACIC will associate the majority of clinical research centers and promote the highest number of new clinical studies in the history of Colombia.

Strategic Objectives

Initially, 9 objectives were identified, which are shown below:

  1. Professionalizing clinical research.
  2. Strengthening administrative structure
  3. Educate the general population about participating in research
  4. Providing support for the professional development of ethics commibees.
  5. Strengthening relationships with INVIMA
  6. Creating continuous communication channels with associates.
  7. Making sure all associated centers achieve compliance with the 9 ACIC 2020 indicators.
  8. Increasing the number of associated centers and influence on CROs/sponsors.
  9. Achieving greater participation from regional leaders.

Quality

For ACIC, it is essential for all its associates to accept and share the code of ethics, professional conduct and good governance, because it is only by aligning values, ethical principles, knowledge and efforts that the Association will achieve its objectives. The code describes the principles members must exhibit to belong to ACIC.

Leadership

We have the ability to empower our colleagues, public and private entities directly or indirectly related to our work, our employees and associates, and the community at large, to highlight the benefits of clinical research and to gain their support.

Innovation

We are open to change, adopting new techniques and technological aids, and searching for different tools and processes to improve our performance.

Integrity

ACIC members respect good customs and moral principles, and always maintain coherence between what we think and say and what we do. The concepts of transparency, integrity and ethics as human beings are part of this value.

Focus

We respond efficiently to the needs of research subjects, CROs/sponsors, the INVIMA, CEI, and other internal or external stakeholders and clients, as well as to the requirements of the research protocols in which we are involved.

Respect for People

We understand that we must deal with a multitude of people in clinical research, and we will achieve beber results by doing so with respect and emotional intelligence.
